The Timeless Connection Between Wallpaper and Vegetal Designs
The use of vegetal designs in wallpaper is a tradition that dates back centuries,
reflecting humanity’s enduring fascination with nature.
Why not bringing back these treasures to our streets?
This link is not only aesthetic but also symbolic, as vegetal patterns can evoke a sense of tranquility, vitality, and the cyclical nature of life.
The earliest wallpapers, emerging in the 16th century, often featured floral and botanical motifs. These designs were inspired by tapestries and hand-painted murals depicting gardens, forests, and floral arrangements. As wallpaper became more accessible,
the vegetal patterns continued to flourish, reflecting the lush gardens and landscapes cherished by society.
In this project regrouping design, painting and animation I wanted to explore and rework these old beautiful wallpapers from the past with a modern and urban twist.
I’m sure this type of mural creates a visually cohesive and immersive experience for viewers, blending art seamlessly into the urban landscape.
Thanks to M.U.R de Bourges for having me on this great event.
Bourges is going to be the European Capital of Culture 2028
